Pets Available at the Local Animal Shelter

DOGS AVAILABLE THIS WEEK AT THE LEWISBURG ANIMAL SHELTER:

Gaelic #78 – My name is Gaelic, and I’ve lived in the same place for almost a year now, paying my rent in kisses and one on one time with my caregivers. I enjoy playing fetch, and will do that all day long if you wish. I weigh 47 pounds, and am heartworm negative and microchipped. I LOVE long walks and strolls on the greenway, and would be great in a home with kids and cats. I’m a little too possessive of my toys, so I would be best supervised at all times with other dogs. What’s mine is mine, and I like it to stay that way. My ancestry consists of 50% American Staffordshire Terrier, and the rest is Plott/English Springer Spaniel decent.

Rocket #245 – Rocket is a male pitbull mix found as a stray on Davis Street. He is brown in color and was wearing a collar with a lock on it. He is very much improved now on weight up to 53 pounds and has really come around so he is available to adopt or rescue. He is super smart and highly food motivated! He will move a lid off of our food bins to get at the food. He has been fully vetted and is heartworm negative and microchipped.

Mormont #283 – Mormont is our senior guy at the moment, and like his Game of Thrones name sake, he is quickly becoming the commander of our hearts! He will be safely cared for by the vols and staff at our shelter until adoption or rescue. This old guy is estimated to be 7-8 years old by the vet, and he is heartworm positive and had a tumor which was removed when he was neutered. He is on antibiotics for the next 30 days and has been started on a slow kill heartworm method. He tested positive for erlichia also which the antibiotics are treating too.  He is finished with his meds and is doing great. He weighs 50 pounds and is microchipped also. He does have issues with his leg and has been on antibiotics for it. He just needs a home where he can live out the rest of his life in peace and quiet.

Pilgrim #355 – Pilgrim is a male pointer/American Bulldog mix found running with his buddy Oak as strays on Mooresville Hwy. Oak has since been pulled by rescue but Pilgrim is still with us. He has very high food anxiety but as long as no food was present he got along fine with Oak. So definitely need to feed separately if you have other dogs. He weighs 66 pounds and is heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $75 and he is available now.

Gypsy #390 – Gypsy is a female American Bulldog red and white in color who was left at the shelter at night after hours. She was microchipped to Huntsville AL and when the owner was contacted they said they gave the dog to a new owner but would not give us the information. She then contacted the new owner and they were the ones that dropped the dog off at the shelter anonymously. The AWO has deemed she is now available for adoption since we know the owner does not wish the dog back. She is super sweet and loving and full of energy. She will make someone a wonderful companion dog. Loves to run and play. Good with the other dogs here at the shelter but a little too anxious to be around the cats. She is fully vetted microchipped so no adoption fee is required. Needs to be separated at feeding as she has very high food anxiety.

Voltron #399 – Voltron is a male Pit Bull dog found as a stray on Snake Creek Road. He is around 4 years old and is grey and white in color. He weighs 57 pounds. Super sweet, smart, and outgoing. Can catch a treat in mid-air. Highly food motivated. He is heartworm negative and is microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $75.

GloWorm #404 – GloWorm is a female Boxer possibly American bulldog mix found as a stray on Franklin Pike. She is brindle and white in color and weighs 60 pounds. She appears to have had puppies in the past. None were found with her. She is about 6 ½ years old and once she gets to know you she is a sweet and loving dog. She will growl and snap at strangers so we are slowly socializing her so that we can find out more about her traits. She seems to be more protective of her space than anything and now sees the shelter and her caregivers as her territory to protect. She is heartworm negative and microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $75.

Dumbledore #10 – Dumbledore is a male we think boxer mixed with possible Dane (he’s so tall and stout!) that was found on Boyette Avenue, The lady who had him stated that he didn’t get along with other dogs and tried to bite, but we have noticed none of that behavior here at the shelter upon intake. He was fine when given vaccinations and when next to the other dogs in the back did not mind at all or act like he wanted to go at them. We will continue to evaluate him. He seems to be a very good dog, just bigger than he thinks he is and he very easily has that bull in a china shop mentality. He is now available for adoption or rescue and has been neutered, microchipped, and is heartworm negative.

Sirius #14 – Sirius is a male Pitbull/Bulldog mix found as a stray on Verona Avenue. He is super smart and friendly and just gorgeous! He weighs 55 pounds and has now been fully vetted and is heartworm negative and microchipped. He is super sweet with people but has a lot of anxiety toward the other dogs here at the shelter. The lady who found him said he was good with her dogs so it may just be shelter anxiety. His adoption fee is $75.

Remus #17 – Remus is a male American Bulldog/Dalmation mix found as a stray on 5th Ave North. He is white with black spots and super friendly and outgoing. He weighs 64 pounds. Loves to run! He is on owner stray hold until 1-25 and has a vet appointment on 1-31.

Pettigrew #21 – Pettigrew is a female pit bull terrier found as a stray on Hazelwood Road. She is super sweet and just wants to go to the door when let out like she knows she is not supposed to be here! She weighs 56 pounds and is on owner stray hold until 1-31. She has a vetting appointment on the 31st and then will be available for adoption.

Dobby #25 – Dobby is a male shepherd mix found as a stray on Morningside Drive in Chapel Hill. He weighs 41 pounds and is brown in color. According to the man who found her he was fine with his kids and other dogs. He is on owner stray hold until 2-3-18 and has a vetting appointment on 2-7.

Winky #27 – Winky is a female American Bulldog mix found as a stray on the Nashville Hwy. She is super thin and only weighs 33 pounds so she is rescue only right now. She is brown and white and is a little skittish but super sweet. We will be monitoring her and have her scheduled for her vetting on 2-14. If she improves weight wise while with us she will be moved to adoption status once her hold is up.

Steeler #28 – Steeler is a male American Bulldog mix, red and white in color, found as a stray on 1st Ave North. He is super sweet but very anxious toward the other dogs here at the shelter. He is on owner stray hold until 2-7.He may be available for adoption after that.

Patriot #30 – Patriot is a male Redbone Coonhound found as a stray on Verona Caney Road. He was spotted in an area where another similar male was seen injured, but this boy is not that dog as he has no apparent injuries. He sweet and just a little timid. He is on owner stray hold until 2-7 and has a vetting appointment on the 7th.

Cowboy #32 – Cowboy is a male American Bulldog mix, brown and white in color, found as a stray on Somerset Circle. He is already neutered, and weighs 57 pounds. He is super sweet and seems to get along with the other dogs, not having any issues with them in the kennels next to him. He is on owner stray hold until 2-9 and will then be available for adoption or rescue. Since he is already neutered his adoption fee is $25 to cover his rabies and other vaccinations.
