LEWISBURG ANIMAL SHELTER

DOGS AVAILABLE THIS WEEK AT THE LEWISBURG ANIMAL SHELTER:

Gaelic #78 – My name is Gaelic, and I’ve lived in the same place for almost a year now, paying my rent in kisses and one on one time with my caregivers. I enjoy playing fetch, and will do that all day long if you wish. I weigh 47 pounds, and am heartworm negative and microchipped. I LOVE long walks and strolls on the greenway, and would be great in a home with kids and cats. I’m a little too possessive of my toys, so I would be best supervised at all times with other dogs. What’s mine is mine, and I like it to stay that way. My ancestry consists of 50% American Staffordshire Terrier, and the rest is Plott/English Springer Spaniel decent. I’m bouncing off the wall for you to adopt me!

Rocket #245 – My name is Rocket, and they call me ‘Rocketman’ around here. I’m that fast! What I mostly go for is food. Yep. I’m an American Bulldog hog. I LOVE it. I seek it out. It’s my everything. But I want you to be my everything too and take me home with you! I need hugs and blankets, and stuffed animals! And treats! I’ll do anything for a treat. I’m a hunk of burning love for my treats! If I sound like a dog you could share your home, and food with, then look no further. I’ll even go on a jogging regime with you if you want! I am heartworm negative, microchipped, and weigh a trim 55 pounds. I’m ready for life on a couch! My ancestry is American Bulldog with a few other breeds probably thrown in there. Come adopt me and see what a true couch potato looks like!

Mormont #283 – My name is Mormont, and if you are looking for a steady, dependable, senior American Bulldog guy, look no further. I’m 7 years old and have the wisdom and the calmness you are looking for. I don’t get rowdy, I only show love. I’m totally into long walks, or sitting on the couch at your side. I have a few medical issues, but nothing that time and love can’t heal. I’m now heartworm negative after my 6 month treatment!! I weigh around 50 pounds, so won’t crush a couch to spend the rest of my days on. I like the girl dogs, but boys can be a bit too much for me. If you can give me the home I’m looking for, please let my caregivers know. They are anxious to find me a new life outside of the shelter.

Pilgrim #355 – My name is Pilgrim, and I’m told I’m one ‘Hot Dog’. I’m suave and sophisticated, with a tad of a wrinkle in my face, so who knows what I’m mixed with. Pointer, Bulldog, you name it it’s probably in there. I LOVE people. So much so that I do this funky dance when my caretakers bring me food or treats. Yeah, I’m that awesome. I get along with other dogs, but hey, my food is my food, so I really want to eat alone. Luckily my caretakers see that and keep the other dogs away during feeding. I’m a good 66 pounds and heartworm negative and microchipped, all which I’m told go a long way into making me the dog of your home dreams. I love toys and would be happy for you to invest your time into bringing me into your life.

GloWorm #404 – Hello there my pretties! My name is GloWorm and I’m the senior gal around here. I would LOVE to be out of the shelter. Why? Because I’m getting on up there in my years, and the shelter just isn’t the place to be when you are getting older. I’m only 6 ½, which is young to me, but seems that folks just don’t see me that way, and think I’m OLD. Believe me there is PLENTY left in this old American Bulldog gal. I love couches, and when they let me go up front that is the FIRST place I go to. It’s so comfy to these bones of mine. I seem to have no medical issues, so I laugh at the term senior gal! I’m heartworm negative and microchipped, and have a lot of love to give. If you give me the chance, I will take on your family as my own, and provide the service of running off strangers you don’t want poking around. Once I get to know you I love you, but others will just have to go through an inspection because believe me, they do NOT want to get on my bad side, which really isn’t bad, I just want them to think it is! A lady doesn’t tell her weight, but they say it may help with my image, so I’m a slim trim 60 pounds! I love my treats, and will take them to bed with me while I wait for someone to come see me the rest of the day. Will you help me find that home that I so desperately am looking for?!?

Dumbledore #10 – Well hello there everybody! My name is Dumbledore, or ‘DD’ as I’m affectionately called by my caregivers. I’m one slick guy, and could put on a few more pounds when I get out of the anxiety of the shelter. I’m a boxer mix, and they think with my tall stature I might even have a bit of Great Dane mixed in. Who knows? I may be part bull too, because I definitely could not be adopted into a china shop. I’m looking for someone to play with me and give me treats when I do good. And I REALLY want to do good. I need someone to show me what being a dog is all about, because right now I have multiple things on my mind. Like what you ask? Well I really like to ….. SQUIRREL!  Oops, sorry about that. I do get distracted easily. I would like to get along with other dogs, but I don’t quite know how to go about doing that so need your help with that. Seems like when I rush a dog they put up their guard and well chaos ensues. I am heartworm negative and microchipped, and really ready to be the new addition to your household!

Sirius #14 – My name is Sirius and I am a handsome American Bulldog guy, and don’t I know it! I am loving with folks, and was good with other dogs outside the shelter and upon intake, but shelter stress can wear on a guy, and so now I’ve got my guard up and go on the defense with other dogs around. And that includes cats. I’ve started seeking them out now, because I have gotten bored despite the efforts of the caregivers to find things to entertain me with. What can I say? I’m an outgoing, loving life kinda guy. I REALLY need to get out of this place. I hope it’s not the last thing I ever do, because I want so much to live the rest of my life on a couch, on a boat, in a truck, just somewhere besides a shelter! I LOVE the water, and go bonkers when it is anywhere near me, even when my water bucket is filled. Is there such a thing as a water diet because I definitely want to do that one! I’m a slick sleek 55 pounder, and am heartworm negative and microchipped. Looking for my forever home is my day job!

Pettigrew #21 – My name is Pettigrew, and I’m a super dooper trooper of a Pitbull dog! I love being with people, because they give me treats, and I am ALL about food. I know I’m not supposed to be here, and go to the door to be let out when out of my kennel. I get along with my neighbors next door to me, but need to be on my own with food around. I weigh 56 pounds and could put on a few more pounds and still be okay with that. I’m heartworm positive but have been started on treatment, am microchipped, and would love to be the new gal pal of your household.

Winky #27 – Um…hello. My name is Winky. I’m very shy. But I’m told that I am a good American Bulldog girl. A special girl. And that the right someone is just waiting for me out there. I follow my caregivers around, because I have learned that they are kind, and good. I have learned that they will feed me where others did not. And they have these magical wonderful things in their pockets they call treats. They are wonderful! I came in underweight at 33 pounds but I’m doing much better so I was just taken to the vet today. I’m now fully vetted and ready to go to a new home. Oh they said I’m heartworm positive but the good folks here have put me on a treatment so I’ll be good as gold in about 6 months. I would love for you to take care of me in your house til I’m better then I will be your BFF . If you are a special kind of forever home, I would sure love to meet you, and be your forever dog too.

Cowboy #32 – Howdy ya’ll!! My name is Cowboy, and I’m a rootin’ tootin’ snootin’ kind of American Bulldog guy! I’m all over the place, and have been owned by someone who cared for me in the past cause I’m already neutered! I am a bundle of fun and energy and bouncing off the wall is the thing to do around here, but once I get inside and get some energy out I’m content to be a couch potato. Whewee I’m ready for someone to get me into a loving home! I weigh 57 pounds and these kind folks around here tell me I’m a rootin’ tootin’ rowdy kind of guy.  I have really nice neighbors here, and all the dogs that I show my nose to seem to sense I’m easy going too. Want to take me home as your new partner, partner? Let the folks at this here shelter know and they can fix me up with you! And I’m heartworm negative and microchipped too!

Ram #57 – Ram is a male pit bull found as a stray on Milltown Road. He weighs 50 pounds and is a ball of energy. He appears to be around a year old and is good natured. He is a high pitched barker. He has been fully vetted and is heartworm negative and microchipped.

Amadeus #59 – Amadeus is a male Rottweiler maybe Shepherd mix found as a stray on 7th Avenue. He was supposedly left tied at an abandoned house there and then someone turned him loose. He is super friendly and outgoing, and was good with the shelter cat. He is on stray hold until 3-9 then will be neutered and vetted on the 14th. He weighs 53 pounds.

Eve #60 – Eve is a female Tri Walker Coonhound found as a stray on Turner Road with Bugsy. She is just a bit shy and has that hound howl. She is on stray hold until 3-13 as she was wearing a collar, then will be vetted on the 14th. She weighs 51 pounds.

Bugsy #61 – Bugsy is a male hound found as a stray on Turner Road with Eve. He is just a bit shy but friendly and has that hound howl. He weighs 46 pounds and has been neutered prior to entering the shelter. He is on owner stray hold until 3-13 and then will be vetted the rest of the way on 3-21 and then available for adoption. Cleopatra #67 – RESCUE ONLY ONCE AVAILABLE: Cleopatra is a female very pregnant Bulldog found as a stray on Ruby Road in the Verona Caney area. She is 51 pounds and has milk already so is close to whelping. She is isolated in a separate room here at the shelter while she is on her stray hold in case she gives birth here. For that reason she is rescue only. She is on owner stray hold until 3-14-18.

Dolly #69 – RESCUE ONLY WHEN AVAILABLE: Our little Hello Dolly is a female pointer and heeler mix we think found as a stray on Milltown Road. She came in with a severely broken right rear leg. She was immediately taken to the vet and is now back at the shelter with a brace on her leg. Diagnosis was a broken tibia. Her meds will go with her to rescue. She weighs 30 pounds and is a sweetheart.  She is wearing a collar and is on owner stray hold until 3-16. She will then be made available to rescue only so she can recoup in a foster home until time for her vetting.

Gandhi #70 – RESCUE ONLY WHEN AVAILABLE: Gandhi is a male we think American Bulldog mix found as a stray here in town. He has so much hairloss from demodex confirmed by the vet that we really aren’t sure what breed or color he is but we are guessing a grey American Bulldog mix. He has been started on treatment and is available to rescue only until he gets better. Medications will be provided to the rescue who pulls him. He is available to rescue now.

Rebecca #72 – Rebecca is a female mini American Bulldog/terrier mix found as a stray on Old Berlin Road. She weighs 34 pounds and appears to be very sweet. She is on owner stray hold until 3-17. She will be vetted on 3-21 and then ready to go home with an adopter or rescue.
