Preds beat Ducks 3-2 in overtime in Game 1 of Western Conference Finals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) It was their first ever game in the Western Conference finals, and the Nashville Predators left the ice with a 3-2 overtime win Friday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

James Neal scored the second overtime goal of his career to give the Predators a 1-0 lead in the series.

It was the Ducks who opened the scoring in the game as Jakob Silfverberg scored his eighth goal of the playoffs to give Anaheim a 1-0 lead early.

The Preds responded before the first period was over as Filip Forsberg redirected a shot from Matt Irwin to even the game.

In the second period, the Preds came out firing as Austin Watson scored his first goal of the playoffs to give the Preds a 2-1 lead after two periods.

In the third, the Ducks did not say die as Hampus Lindholm sent the game into overtime with his first goal of the playoffs.

And finally in overtime, the Predators came through as James Neal scored just over nine minutes in to give the Preds a 3-2 win as Nashville remains unbeaten in opening games so far this post season.

The Preds take a 1-0 lead in the series with game 2 Sunday in Anaheim.
